A new paradigm about the workplace is needed, shifting it from the notion of single place for face-to-face interaction to a potentially anytime, anyplace network of electronically connected places.
Achieving an enabling infrastructure requires rigorous frameworks for thinking about ‘distributed work' and new planning processes and analytic tools. It also requires new organizational arrangements among corporate real estate (CRE), information and communication technology (ICT), and human resources managers.
The dWork project will provide (1) a conceptual framework, strategies, and analytic tools, and (2) concrete models, tools and practices that will help CRE groups to participate in the design of physical workplaces, ICT networks and connections and the managerial policies that support the corporation's knowledge work as it distribute activities.
